2017- 2018 ACADEMIC YEAR FALL SEMESTER APPLICATION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Institute of Sufi Studies started a non-thesis master’s program titled “Sufi Culture and Literature” in February 2016 and accepted its first students in the 2015-2016 Spring Semester. The program provides the opportunity to pursue postgraduate education in Sufism and related subjects for those interested in all branches.

The content of the program is structured by associating the subjects of Sufi doctrine, Sufi history, Sufi literature with each other and with basic Islamic sciences, and with various disciplines of the social field, especially the history of Islamic thought and civilization. The program also aims to contribute to the production of interdisciplinary cultural studies from Turkey based on the perspective of “Islamic thought and Sufism”. A closer look reveals that any study of culture in this geography must refer to the field of Sufism. Research on Sufism can also bring new perspectives to those interested in sociology and human psychology today.

Program Application and Pre-registration:

Candidates can submit their applications as of May 22, 2017 at the address below. Graduates of 4-year undergraduate departments with YÖK equivalency can apply to the program. ALES grade is not required for applications to the program. The quota is 50 students.

Technical Specifications of the Program:

Sufi Culture and Literature Non-Thesis Master’s Program consists of a total of two semesters. Within the scope of the program, the student will take 7 compulsory and 3 elective courses. The weekly course load is at least 15 hours. The program consists of a total of 30 credits (75 ECTS equivalent) of courses and a Term Project during two semesters. If the student is unable to complete the program within the one-year period, the student is granted a maximum of one additional semester.
